That dude is my hero. If you haven't read Band of Brothers it is a great book and well worth the time. Dick Winters was a no B.S. type of guy. I felt like I knew him.

Damn... RIP sir. I bought that miniseries on DVD and have watched it honest to God, 30 times.

 

RIP - a true role model

 

Words cannot express the respect I have for the way that generation met the challenges they faced. RIP.

 

RIP and my God bless you and all your "Band of Brothers". Through the efforts of you and those like you, you saved my father from becoming a German soldier at the age of 13 from the Hitler Youth corps. You also saved my mother who lived south of Amsterdam. I am here because of you and those like you. Again may God bless you and all who served.

You are the reason I became a 101st ABN soldier.

 

A sad day. I'd be happy to be half the man he was.

 

I found out about him when I was 14 or so when I read the book. Ive never forgotten his name. What a soldier

Godspeed Major Winters. I had the honor to meet Major Winters a few years ago. Unforunately it was at the funeral of another fallen hero, Lt Col. Jack Murphy, a B-17 pilot and POW. There is a reason they deserve respect and to be called the greatest generation.
