I am looking at buying a clutch for racing.
anyone have any suggestions for an SV?
any experiences with some that I should avoid?
    thanks

Yep. Suzuki's stock clutches are quite good.

Vesrah just came out with a clutch set that's very reasonable for the GSXR. It has plates and frictions. Plus it's aftermarket so it HAS to be better!

Maybe they have the SV one coming or out now?

Call Moose at Trackside about the new Vesrah stuff. The kits (like the RJL pads) aren't at Parts Unlimited yet but Trackside and Marshall Distributing should have them now or very soon.

I just like the dang thing being 100% complete with the parts and gasket all in one box.

    Barnett has a good kit.

I've found more than one SV clutch friction plate in multiple pieces.

I call bullshit on this one. My stock plates didn't even last a season, however i've been riddin on a set of barnett plates for 2 seasons now.

It's weird, some Sv's break the friction plates sometimes. It seems to happen only to some. Might be the operator :) . Mine had 20k + and lot of abuse, checked the plates 3 times last season just to make sure and everything was OK. I don't have any problems with the stock clutch as it is.

Thank you; I stand corrected. I was simply referring to my experiences with the stock clutches on my GSXR's and Bandit (which, by the way, lasted quite a while). That experience apparently doesn't carry over to the SV's...

Yeah, it is strange. I don't know anyone out here (Ok/Tx) who's had a problem, and lord knows my bike had lots of abuse. Maybe a bad batch that all ended up back east??

I found broken plates in my clutch on west coast.
have not seen any lately.have also seen few aftermarket ones just going bad or not working right.
    I like stock .

    thanks for everyones input.

I will not put stock back in because when I had my 2000 SV the clutch was slipping at deals gap after running it hard there.
I don't have much confidence in stock after that.....

    now.....where is that credik card.....:D

    I didn't mean to offend you (I'm a nice guy, no really i am :D )
I just stating what happened to mine.

yea your right, I am very rough on my clutch, and I toased my stock plates in less than one season, but I'm equally hard on my Barnett plates, and they seem to be lasting a bit longer.
