Tire Sizes...

  1. What kind of effect is experienced with using a 180 sized tire on a 1000cc bike? I had a vendor mount a 180 on my wheel for me by accident and he said "oh no! You don't want that!" However I have heard of others using 180's. Just looking for a little knowledge from the experts! Thanks!

180's don't belong on liter bikes. it may be fine for commuting, but not for cornering and certainly not for racing.

  3. Thats what I thought DR! I just happened to be browsing on 1000rr.net forum and saw comments about it....

180 is a great street tire, very stable with a huge contact patch upright, turn is going to be a bitch and your contact patch on the edge is going to be tiny.

Some people have seen slight improvements from switching from a 190/50 to a 180/55. But now that 190/55's are readily available, there shouldnt be a need to use a 180/55 on a 6" wheel.
