I tried them on a Husky 450 supermoto and I was not impressed. They felt harder than the Bridgestone road race slick and I couldn't tell what the tire was doing as well as I could with other brands. I have used Bridgestone road race slicks and their supermoto tires, michelin supermoto tires, and maxxis presa slicks. I would have rather been on any of those than the Shinko. YMMV but that's how I feel about them.
Shinko Tires I bought some Shinko tires brand new for $180 front and rear. I have got four track days out of them and they have held up a lot better then I anticipated. The big difference I see in them is the profile on the tire. They are more rounded then the other brands that are out there. They are not the best but hell, how can you bet that price!
Shinko will be the Spec Tire for AMA next year. They are designed to explode at 150 mph which will keep speeds down.
We had one of our guys try them on a 600. They took about four laps to come in. Then they were about the same as a set of Powr Race Mediums for 30 laps and then went to shite in a hurry. In three laps then it went from sketchy to unridable. The rear had a tendency to step-out pretty suddenly and in big doses at all timnes during the tread life. Track was Mid-Ohio and conditions were sunny and in the low 70's. He absolutely could not get below a 1:42.. and he's a 1:35 guy. I'd say for a first effort that isn't too bad.
I have talked with one of their reps personally, since I live near Fresno. His words not mine: "Our tires were not developed for use at road race tracks. Our tires are great for use at the drag strip." And their tires are not retreads, as I thought they were.
