That woman had style and power to her voice. One of my favorites female singers, she's like Stevie Nicks on steroids. She really had few contemporaries or equals. The voice of a generation
Abused by her shit-bum husband Ike, she rose to greatness despite his criminal ass. RIP great lady and thank you for the rock and roll and the Thunderdome !!!
Over nearly three decades of live performances I can solidly say her last North American tour is still the best, most unforgettable performance I have ever seen. There is a movie of that tour featuring her Hawaii stop. Highly recommend. Also if you have never seen the biopic "What's Love Got To Do With It" it's an eye opener. My mom and dad saw Ike and Tina sing with James Brown in a tobacco barn. Some time in the 60's. (Not many places black folks could see a concert at the time.) Funny thing to me was Mick Jagger's obsession with Tina. She said when they toured together Mick would always be offstage staring at her dancing and she loved to tease him.
I saw her in November of 1985 when she did the Private Dancer tour. Hands down the absolute best concert I ever attended. RIP Anna Mae Bullock.
Damn. I grew up watching ‘What’s love got to do with it?” (when mtv played music videos) and of course Thunderdome. RIP legend.
