I am glad I grew up in southern Ohio in the 60's and 70's. I was made fun of for being a dork but not for the crappy clothes I wore.
Learned my right jab because of a funny name, bowl haircut, knock off clothes and big ears. Missed a little school as a result, bonus.
I did too and got made fun of too - it wasn't just the shoes and clothes but they were absolutely a large part of it Shillitos warehouse, cords that were navy blue front of one leg and tan the back of the same leg then reversed for the other leg were one of my favorite horrible cheap clothes...
The 70's and poor were an interesting combo at the bets of times I need to find one old easter picture, all three kids in matching red/white/blue outfits.
Remind me to post a picture of my cousin and I circa 1973 that absolutely epitomizes this. It's on the PC at the house. Dirt po', redneck.
Baby Me,and a picture with my daddy and sister..Look at that bowl cut,and my old man with Marlboro red in hand.I never stood a chance I was destined for future ass whoopins in that neighborhood
