My 5ish year old Toro push mower won’t start hot. Runs fine, but if I have to add fuel or open the gate it won’t restart. Google says to replace the coil and carb. What says the all knowing Beeb? Buy a new one with a lot of buttons?
Seems pretty simple Zip tie the kill handle like any other hillbilly and don't mow unless you start with a full tank
Sounds like vapor lock. If you let it cool down a bit more, say 1/2hr, and it starts, you know that’s what it is.
Check the valves. If it had otherwise been running without issue, I can almost guarantee you have a loose adjuster. Screw and locknut...easy peasy.
Haven’t used it since last season, but it does restart after cooling for probably 30 to 45 minutes. How do you remedy, go to a vented cap?
5 years seems pretty new-ish yet, but I've had coils that went bad and didn't work when hot. That's a quick thing to try.
Starter fluid around air box? or throw a temper tantrum like my ol 70 yo friend in Anderson SC does, and burn it to the ground in the yard.Love that guy!
Is the air filter clean ? Run some fuel system cleaner and make sure you're running non ethanol gasoline, not the shit from the corner gas station Also, valve lash adjustment isn't hard to do at all, but if it starts cold that's likely not the issue.
Did you try to loosen the gas cap in case it isn't venting Edit: you have something killing your spark Try disconnecting low oil shutdown wire ?
What's it doing when it won't start. Is it turning over strong and won't fire? Is it lugging/turning over slow? Is it actually trying to fire/start or is the starter just making it turn
