I thought we were looking at items that would be heavier typically on the 600 vs on the 400?

Items I listed should be lighter in stock form and also in aftermarket form if upgraded on both bikes.

I believe he started by saying that the 600 would shed more weight than the 400 in race trim because it has heavier parts coming off. I could only think of one: the exhaust. Potentially.

The parts you listed are not coming off unless you are running a superbike spec. I was working on the assumption that those things were racing in supersport/stock trim.

That's always floored me too. With all the same trick stuff on it, the size of the hole in the cylinders isn't going to change the cost to make the bike a single bit. Yet people still think smaller should be cheaper.

D Superstock and D Superbike as the main class. Not legal for Clubman.

I'd bet the parts bin wheels and some other components are actually heavier than what you'd find on a modern 600 or 1K

    I agree, that's why it's only 10k :D

    Then why is a 1000 more than a 600

The real question should be why isn't a 600 as much as a 1000.

The real answer is marketing, they know all you weirdos expect smaller displacement with all else being the same to just be cheaper.

If they have exactly the same quality parts and features, the 1000 is probably more expensive only because people are willing to pay more for it.
If they are not equal in all parts, then it's a combination of higher spec parts and people's willingness to pay more.
My opinion only. No research was used in the making of this post.

    See previous question above LoL
Which makes the point for why the 400 should be cheaper. Steel frame aside

Did I read that right on the spec sheet it has 37mm USD forks? Seems an odd choice.
