I don’t know. I thought he preferred you hang out for hours, give him some tips how to weld because you know how to do it but don’t have a welder. Then tell him he charges way too much. Top it off by telling him he looks like a redneck Yanni. Serious note- being a “decent” welder I know the large gap in skill I have to weld like Britt and it’s the part of the curve that’s exponential. He’s one of only 2 people I know I’d trust to send anything to. Only reason I’d ever ask him the price first is to determine if it’s worth fixing or not. Like a good tattoo artist, don’t ask the cost- quality isn’t cheap.
What year YZ250? Cases for the the current gen (1999-current) and prior (88 to 1999) are pretty easy to source used. I've got a 92 with a similar hole, JBWelded and it's been solid for years.
God Bless, God bless you Britt, God bless. I'm headed to welding shop to buy all this stuff right now. Thank you so very much, thank you so much !
I'm leaving for welding supplies, I'll come back and read/answer other questions or concerns later today. Thanks guys!
When the obvious answer is safety wire (or baling wire if you've got some old school laying around the barn).
Whats the oil gallery for? These dont have pressurized oil, do they? It looks to me it just needs to be sealed up but not hold pressure and if thats the case jb weld would be fine.
Looks like the chain got hungry and took a bite out of clutch actuator boss. Seems to be splash fed from the trans and the gravity drains to the other end of the actuator and back into the trans. For off road riding, probably not too concerning if a small leak develops over time.
Do you aim for the copper with this method or still kinda favor the edges... I would cut it square and cut a replacement chuck the same size because I don't know that method.
That spot is really small..I'd weld it up and call it done...trying to weld a small square would just be a waste of time with zero ROI...IMO
That case is maybe 2.5 - 3mm the size of the photo is deceiving You just light up on the edge, and establish a puddle...add wire and work around in a circle..filling in toward the center..close it up...done. It should look like a tiny aluminum cinnamon roll when your done...
