1992 Yamaha FZR 600 rim question?

So my nephew just bought a extremely clean, low mileage 1992 FZR 600 for his first streetbike. Being that he's 2000 miles away I can only help so much. Anyway he's trying to find new tires so he can do a few classes and trackdays come springtime. He says the rear rim is 18 inches. but the front is 17. Was that a thing on these back then?
What 17 inch rear will fit on this?
Anyone have one laying around for sale?

Depending on the year, the early ones had a 3.50x18 rear wheel and then 4.00x18 rear, Front is 3.00x17 and will require a 110 front tire to retain a satisfactory profile. A common mod was to install a lightly machined 4.50x17 rear wheel from a GSXR. 1988 GSXR750 perhaps? Stick carries a decent 150-160/60-18 rear with matching front.

I used a modified 4.50x17 Katana wheel on mine so that's a option too if you can't find a reasonably priced GSXR wheel.

Just get the 18" from Stickboy. It's good rubber. Better money spent is the suspension.

    I thought the 3.5” rear was the FZ………not FZR………????

FZR 600 had 3.5" rear, FZR 400 had 4" rear.

We have new tires for those bikes in stock.

Is it the white and red or the black? Or the even faster and in no way ghey V&H color?

I haven't seen the bike in person yet. My brother found it and bought for my nephew.

    Ahhhh F^&*.

Thats the one I bought new in 1992. The pinnacle of 600cc sportbikes right there. So pretty.

I like that scheme too. One of the 600’s here, I have most of that bodywork.

What’s the skinny on your 18”s? DOTs or slicks?. Assuming something newer than the bt090 from a couple years ago? That was still an excellent tire! Im 99% on just going ahead and getting my 400 ready for this season and need to decide on stock rear or a swap. Thanks!!
