Nope, Mladin retired at the end of 2009 (although Peeegram did have 3 wins in 2009 on the Duc). That last Ducati win was race 1 @ Fontana in 2010. Pegram/Zemke/Yates was the podium (Hayes 4th).
Why are there 3 superbike races this weekend but STK1000 and Twins only get one?? Although after this first race, that's probably a good thing for most of those guys cuz it was a shit-show lol
Moto America gets volunteers for races most are no experience necessary. Corner workers should be a little more knowing of how to attend to fallen riders or at least be able to run!
That’s not necessarily true. Not how sure how Indy does it, but Barber, Road Atlanta rounds, you are very experienced or you don’t work a corner. FBF doesn’t use rookies at large events.
I did a couple years of emergency services (fire/crash truck grunt) for SCCA and we definitely were second fiddle (track employed captain truck) at certain tracks and others ran their own crews entirely. Road America (2nd fiddle) and Autobahn CC (all in house crews) come to mind.
RAs crew is truly world class. Ive smacked the pavement there enough times to know. Anyway - Hot damn that Ducati is fast.
Corner workers have to have some experience to do that at MA events. Some of the other volunteer positions are "no experience needed", but not the corner workers and flaggers. I wanted to do that when I volunteered at NJMP last year but couldn't because I had no prior experience, so I ended up being just a grid marshal.
What a shit show in terms of race management by the corner workers and safety crew. I get they're volunteers and am appreciative but holy fuck they're going to get someone hurt. Who decides when to throw a red anyways? Is that a call from in the box or do the corner workers have some discretion? And depending on who HSBK puts on that bike next year, methinks Cam is in trouble.
