My version of LA as I would imagine David Lynch sees it...

Screech owls? This one is a western screech owl I see on evening walks, went back out after I got home to get this since he was only about 15 ft up in the tree.

Not so good when you blast them with a flash. :). I've seen research on barn owls that they could catch mice in a room with no light. The round shaped face acts like a sonar.

Not a great quality image (taken from the car, through the window, on a phone) but this was the most unusual sunrise I can ever remember seeing.

Yes, eastern screech owls. Mama was protecting her babies in the birdhouse and papa was lookout.

I only had about 10 min to run back in the house, grab my camera and shoot before the sunlight was completely gone. Mama wasn't too happy with my shutter. Then I noticed papa owl in the avocado tree right next to the birdhouse and was able to get a few shots even with the branch swaying constantly.

Did you use a neutral density filter for those slow shutter shots?

no sir. it was dark enough that 20-30” or so worked. if you’re asking about the car trails, they are multiple exposures stacked in photoshop.. so you take a bunch of 30” shots and stack the light parts. it’s essentially the same as throwing on a super dark ND and leaving the shutter open for a really long time.

Those night shots are awesome. What's your setup for those Milky Way shots? I can't even get close to that, so not sure if it's hardware, settings, or lack of intelligence.
