Those bikes were very fast. From what I heard it was Daytona that wanted to restart the race for a “4 lap shootout” and not ccs. I’m sure there is some truth in there somewhere new here or a variation of it ;-). Kelly was impressive, nice kid and I hope to see him continue to progress in his career. Looked to me like he was a good teammate too in the 200. ALS impressive was looking over in the garage and watching Huey eat a Krispy Kreme donut in 0 bites all while leaving his mustache so clean it was ready for the porn set. Yesterday morning I got a true Florida experience. Right about 6am I ran to the 8 eleven just outside the track. 2 Harley guys at the gas pumps with a big much of commotion, ambulance had pulled on right after I did. I was kind of blocked in so got out of the Jeep and medic gave the guy who overdosed on heroin at 6am a shot of Narcan , which is crazy because he already had it on him. Wasn’t quite pulp fiction like but he lu shit that stuff works fast. One of the many fish I caught. Day or night I fished when I could.
Well I’ll be damned ... Nice fish Can anyone tell me how Farrell did? I haven’t seen any news anywhere. I know he was having issues getting the bike setup down, and was off his usual pace, but no clue about anything else.
Actually had a couple that were bigger than those but phone was back at the gas of cart charging. So those don’t count. I’ve just always wanted to catch a fish out of there. So I caught about 22.
They made it as clear as beer piss at the riders meeting that only OEM filters would be legal. No hybrid, no aftermarket, nada. If some folks haven't figured that out after three years......
That would be new since last year then. In the 2018 Daytona 200 rules it reads as such: Original equipment air box must remain as produced. Air filters must be used but may be Aftermarket units. Aftermarket air filters are restricted to units available via normal commercial channels and designed for that specifc model machine. Aftermarket air filter units that replace part of the O.E.M. air box are required to maintain the exact original size and number of air inlet openings as the stock unit.(1.) Aftermarket filters that replace part of the airbox must remain as produced by the manufacturer of the aftermarket units. Attempting to modify the aftermarket unit by attaching parts from the OEM unit is strictly prohibited.
That was my first thought when the red came out. "No way WERA would restart an endurance race under those conditions." Then I remembered it was the Daytona 200 and hell yeah, why not? Need a good ending to the show.
It did seem a little odd to have a 3 lap shoot-out, but nobody can question that all of the guys on the lead lap could run the pace. I would have been happy with any of the top 6 taking the win, but Kyle rode a perfect last lap and the results are fine with me. So far I haven't heard of any complaints from the riders about the ending of the race. Has anybody?
I’ll be 59 years old in a few days 418. I ended up 14th in the official results and turned a 1.54 lap time during the race so I’m happy. I got dinged up pretty good at Roebling Rd in turn 3 three weeks ago and was glad just to be able to make the race. I have to go and have surgery on a tendon that got ground off the back of my finger now I’ve got the race out of the way. Hoping to be back again next year for my 60th birthday gift to myself! Pat Mooney.
