If ya gotta join a club to run in their race, then its ALL club racing. There, its been stated by a nobody.
Any race with a substantial purse is a pro race. The 200 is similar to the Rolex 24hr car race, in that it is essentially a pro/am with regards to the participants. The pointy end of the field is comprised of drivers that race for a living in both sports cars and other series, mainly Nascar and Indy. The remainder of the field are club guys and semi pros that have jobs outside of racing, but race in pro series. The 200 field has maybe 8-10 guys that earn a paycheck from actual racing and a few more that maybe earn a living through support shops. The rest are club guys. It's certainly a pro race even if the entire field does not race for a living. Pretty good collection of go fast pros entered so far. Should be a good one.
“Club racing” Can also have “Pro Classes” Happens in the dirt track world all the time. Also road race... AHRMA has done it in the past also. Same with the Toyota 200. Wasn’t that like 50k??
its a pro/am exhibition race, maybe road racing's version of Monster Energy Cup. thatd be a great goal for the 200 actually - be as big as the Monster Energy Cup.
Thank god we are FINALLY discussing the difference between a club race and a pro race and trying to classify the Daytona 200. I can’t believe after 15+ yrs, or however long it has been, that the distinction between club level and pro level has never been explained or discussed!!!!!
Yes, I hate Tottenham fucking Hotspur, always have, always will. (by the way you're not allowed to call them that anymore...)
