I have a pre-CBS Fender Mustang in Daphne Blue. The 'L' serial number dates it to 1965. Very good condition with original case. The paint has some scratches and the metal needs to be polished. It plays just fine. Can someone give me a value estimate please? Also, I believe a full restore would be about $400. Worth it or keep it original? TIA
Everyone seems to want patina these days, keep it original it has a story. That's all I got I'm not into guitars.
DO NOT restore it!!! You'll actually decrease the value. Value? All over the place but around $2 grand is a good guestimate.
What Britt said. Don’t polish it. Don’t clean it with anything but a lint free cloth. Find a Smokey bar and go play it for hours.
Showed it to my son Dillan, he sent me a photo of the same setup that Sold (10/20/18) online for $2290 +$60 shipping...and it had more "scratches" on the front.
I've got a '66 Jazzmaster and the offers have been 2k and above. Never parting with it because it looks so damn good. Keep it and don't re-furb.
Used to be able to buy those things all day for $200 to $300. Gawd, I cringe at the value of some of the shit I smashed or just messed up. No 60s era stuff but the late 70s and 80s crap. Pawns shops were full up with them. I'm glad I didn't trash the 70s SG I got out of the pawn shop but I wish I had kept it. You can thank Sonic Youth, Nirvana and J Mascis for the huge spike in those things I'd say.
Good gawd, is that reverb site legit? I just looked up my old Silvertone guitar and amp and my Strat.
There is money in old geetars. I'm sitting on a pre-war (1938) D18. Wish I still had the original case, but my Pop beat it to oblivion hauling that ax all over with him camping.
