Still coming down. Have 15 inches over night. Duke has 250k w/o power, so I hate that for them. My power has blinked a few times. So I'm going to drive to the farm to get the little Honda 2000 generator so my kids can run a space heater if needed. Folk here generally go nuts when this happens. It's when all of the idgits go for a drive in their Honda Civics.
We're a little south of raleigh. Funny as we just got a little dusting, but just 20 miles up the road they had 5 inches this morning. Weird how the weather is like that.
We've lucked out in the Greenville, SC thus far for the most part. Only about 2" at my house but not very far North at all there is 8 to 10". 32 degrees right now. The storm has passed our area but another wave comes in tonight and tomorrow. No telling if it will be ice or rain. News just stated 250k without power between SC and NC.
Yea, i've said in another thread in the matter of a few miles i've seen 1ft of snow difference, and it wasn't that i was driving up into a mountain range either.
I grew up in Upstate NY. We always got pounded every winter. You can have that white shit. Only snow I want to see is on the weather channel.
Duke has 290,000 out now. Just returned with my genny. A three mile ride. 3 jeeps & a 4x4 pick up in the ditches. Cut 3 trees on the way back just to get home. Nap time.
Just rain & wind on the coast. Friend that lives NW of Charlotte has posted pix of her back yard with a half a foot of snow on the ground.
I'm in Morganton, along the world famous Hwy 181! It's where all the fast guys from surrounding cities come to crash. IDK about 77, but my guess is that it would be fairly ok, maybe a bit slow.
