Iowa pig population reaches record 23.6 million https://www.desmoinesregister.com/s...-how-many-pigs-iowa-united-states/1451081002/
Iowa - where life is so boring that they have a camera to watch corn grow and they count pigs for something to do.
At least Iowa doesn't get hurricanes to swamp the pig lagoons like NC does. Iowa does get more than its share of tornados, though. Hmmm, blockbuster movie idea: PoopNado!!
I thought this would be about wild hogs running amok but noooooo, its literally pigs at farms. What a shit show Iowa is.
My great grandfather did. I used to visit his farm every summer when I was younger. He passed away when I was 13 or so I think. I don't what the majority of the state is like but that small town they lived in, it was boring for sure.
I have been dealing with the smell and nasty water while working on my sailboat in New Bern. I watched a diver come out of the water and then basically bath in alcohol.
I grew up there. Didn't farm but lived in a small town surrounded by farmers/farmland. Had a small 3 acre field in my backyard that my parents leased out to be farmed each year, alternating beans and corn. I've seen more than a few calves being born, stepped in cow shit, went to high school with a bunch of wannabe' cowboys, lived through dozens of tornadoes. That count? LOL
I worked on wind turbine fields out there in college. There is a lot of animosity between the soy/corn farmers and pig farmers, mostly related to the irrigation restrictions they have that the hog farmers don’t. Groundwater is a finite resource....
Thanks for the heads up, will decline the invitation I had to an upcoming pig slaughtering. I'm going to go ahead and avoid Possum Kingdom, SC while I'm at it.
