National Health care. With a national sales tax. IF this ever would pass I bet there would be a lot more bartering and cash sales.
One of the problems with that shit is that once a tax like that is implemented, it'll never be repealed. You guys are gettin more and more like Canada every day...
Now who hopes he fails? This is rich! I heard about this today. Didn't Bo promise not to raise taxes on anyone earning less than 250K? Who fell for that? Be honest....
I have health insurance. Our premiums already make up for unisured. Why should anyone pay more. I can't opt out and take the free stuff. We got food programs, welfare that they all have enough for 72 inch tv's and cars. Let them sell their tv and buy insurance. Enough is enough.
We will pay less for national health care then we are currently paying for medical insurance (those of us that can get it).
Yeah, but unfortunately you won't be paying for the same quality of care anymore. It will be cheaper for a reason.
It's not very quality health care if you are denied coverage because of a preexisting condition or if you have a family of 4 and can't afford the $1200.00/mo bill. The option of extra private insurance for people who want it will always be available.
And so it begins. Bend over and lube up hard working capitalist Americans, you are about to get fucked royally by BO and his socialist wealth redistribution agenda. When the dust settles we are going to be Europe. Fuck.
Only works for people who have jobs that provide health-care. Many don't. Temp labor, part timers, self employed, retail workers, contractors, employees of small businesses, small business owners, and of course the 10% of the population that is unemployed.
Not equal, just covered. Like medicare which works amazingly well considering almost every person covered is sure to have massive health care expenses. Every medicare patent has the option to buy additional private coverage.
Europeans have as good if not better medical care and are generally healthier then us. Unlike us, everyone is covered and out of pocket medical expenses for most Europeans is zero. The average family cost of medical insurance is $11,000, which is more than the average family pays in federal income tax.
I'll wait for a European to tell me that. Never heard a Canadian say they liked their healthcare system.
They like it better than Americans who can't get insurance like ours. None of them would trade their system for ours. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/sickaroundtheworld/
Sorry... Another one of my meaningless anecdotes: I'm an employer. I used to have btwn 15-20 employees depending on the work load. Now I'm down to 4 full timers and a couple of part timers because of this shitty economy. about 3-4 years ago, my foreman George talked me into getting a Kaiser health plan for the employees. At the time I probably had around 10 employees. He talked me into it because another guy on the crew (Richard) needed the coverage for his wife who needed MAJOR surgery. So I got the health care plan. I bought 1/2 of my employees health care coverage and they were responsible for the rest, including the coverage for their spouses and children (group plan, no denial). It was deducted from their GROSS earnings. Most were paying less than $100 per month. I was paying around $1500 per month. Do you know what? Every single person over the course of about 2 years dropped their coverage. They didn't even want to pay the roughly $100 per month for their coverage (and Kaiser is GOOD). They all figured that it was in their best interest to just get the "free" health care that the County provides. Do you know who is left on the plan? Just me and my business partner. So.......... I don't have much sympathy for these buggers who bitch about not having medical insurance. The only reason they don't have it is because they don't want to buy it, they want Sugar Daddy to give it to them.
Not according to Daniel Hannon. Of course, I'm sure you know more than him, he's only lived the issue for years. Keep drinking the Kool Aid.
The number of people who don't have medical insurance because they voluntarily refused group health is a tiny percentage of the 40,000,000 uninsured people, regardless of you meaningless personal anecdote.
