How often do you guys change the oil in your racebikes? Do you do it based on number of races? Race weekends? Hours run? Note, I am *not* asking which oil is best.... EDIT: Also, if you're changing the oil after every weekend, are you doing the filter too? Or are you doing them less frequently?
Depends. If it is Rotella you can run for an entire season on it. Anything and it has to be changed more often. I typically change mine every other weekend. If it is a long weekend with a practice day Friday and double-header Sprints, then I'll change it after that one weekend. I'm sure it is still good. But the oil I use glows and smells like bananas so I like messing with it.
Yeah.. throw that on on there too.. Why not? I'm with Chaotic; I change mine every other weekend 3-4 days depending on use (filter too).
I specifically DID NOT ASK THAT QUESTION. :wow: I know what oil I'm going to use. I'm looking for opinions on how often to use it.
Really anything we do is overkill. The oil is sposed to be good for 3000mi+. I understand we are at high RPM's, but we aren't ruining the oil in those 300mi we do in a race weekend.
Right, I realize frequent oil changes are part cheap insurance and part voodoo. At any rate, I am curious to see what the range of oil change frequencies is.
I do it once every few weekends. A couple seasons ago I only did race 3 total weekends, so yeah Chaotic I did run an entire season on Rotella.
Are people actually running Rotella in their racebikes or is this stemming from some knucklehead who used it and now it's part of BBS lore?
