    We did this build for the Triumph 675 board and thought the WERA folks would like to see how it turned out. We picked up this bike in November of 2009 and set out to build a middleweight class superbike. Basically, everything from the Triumph kit parts catalog was used on the bike along with a few other trick parts.

    The quick shifter came in a nice ABS case. The problem was the length of the cable to connect it to the harness; it should have been much, much shorter, otherwise, we have to get under the fuel tank to switch them out.

    Ovalized exhaust ports come stock on the Triumph …

    … which mate nicely to the spigots included with the Arrow kit exhaust.

    The full Ti system is significantly lighter than stock, especially in the muffler.

    With the engine off at the builders, we installed an Őhlins TTX shock in the rear and 25mm cartridges in the forks.

    Samco hoses on the motor are secured with Oetiker clamps.

    After we got the motor back, we put everything but the bodywork on the bike so Seamus could decide what he liked, and (mostly) didn’t like about the wire harness, mounting brackets and other bits and pieces.

    Battery box, exhaust, seat and tail cover – nothing else is attached to the subframe.

    With such close proximity to the exhaust, we thought it best to shield the battery from the heat.

    Having done a dry run of the assembly, we took everything off the bike and started over again. When you get down to it, there really isn’t much that actually goes on the bike.

    Fairing stay and instruments in place. Check out the single-cable throttle.

    We wanted this bike to be as light as possible, so we replaced every bolt we could with Ti hardware.

    Even the throttle bodies were treated with Ti hardware.

    Mis-matched bolts on the mounting brackets were replaced with matching, Ti bolts.

    Not only the sprocket bolts, but also the axle adjuster screws and nuts were replaced with Ti.

    We removed a small amount of material from the subframe so the mounting bolts were slightly recessed.

    With the gas tank in place and everything in working order, it was off to the dyno at FastBikes-USA.

    The bike right before it left for Miller Motorsports Park: 136hp at the wheel and 333lbs on the scales with stock wheels. We should have a set of Marchesinis before the weekend.

    I've got a pearl white one for putzing around on and I have to say it's a totally kickass, under-rated sportbike. Throw some helibars on, get the suspension setup for ya and ride it all day long on the track.


    That project-bike is awesome, btw :up: 136 HP ain't too shabby.
