The R1 is the best looking jap sportbike out there, hands down.

But what about the specs? HP? Weight?

sweet!

I like the sculpting of the fairing and how it blends into the swingarm brace. The way the air inlets are shaped make the bike look like popeye going, "Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr".

Didn't we agree once in the '60s on the Stones v. the Beatles controversey? I thought that you and I agreed that the Stones had stones and that the Beatles were girlie-men. Brad hated both and prefered the Beach Boys 'cause they were 'Merican.

I think we did, but if that discussion took place in the '60s, I was prolly diggin' the Jackson 5 more than the Stones. I tink that discussion was 'on' the '60s.

That Honda is butt-ass ugly. And what's up with that red, white & blue paint scheme?

The Kaw and the Yammie are fine if you're into anime and disneybarf.

Mature riders will be on the Honda in red/black. (But it'd be better in all black like the 600).

Anybody wanna make a guess about that little black box on the Honda's steering head? Electromagnetic / induction based steering damper? (If it is, I'm gonna sue!)

Yeah, it was something I invented about 10 years ago and discussed in a public motorcycle forum. I always thought my version felt a little strange, but Hondabucks could have fixed those little problems.

Basically, a DC motor / generator will produce a current opposite of its direction of armature travel...... meaning that a shorted DC motor or generator will always produce a current that makes it want to turn in the direction opposite of the way it's being turned.

The kewl part is that the current is proportional to the speed / force put into the armature. Bingo, you have a self adjusting, instantly reacting steering damper with virtually no drag at city speeds and LOTS of drag at tank slapper speeds.

On the other hand, the pic could be showing a pseudo-scotts under a cover.

And if Honda's watching....... I'll go away if you give me one of the new 5 cylinder versions when they come out. My RC51 will be pretty tired by then.

i think that HESD does not mean Hidden Enigmatic Scotts' Dampener!!

Did you happen to patent your idea??

No, I didn't patent the idea. But there's always the rule of "pre-existing product".

Having worked for Japanese companies here in the US, I figure that Honda will just wait for a lawyer to call, deny everything and then remove the product from the market until what would have been my 14 year patent term is over.

But at this point, I'm not asking for much and I'm willing to sign away all my rights to the product in exchange for WAY LESS than what my lawyer would charge.

But in the worst case scenario, I know the idea was mine.

Oh, one feature I forgot to mention is that a simple rheostat would allow infinite adjustability to an EMF type damper.
