I race with Gustavo, he is def a damn good rider. Especially doing all that on an almost bone stock 600rr (except shifter and tuned motor) He is also a lightweight maybe 110 pounds. I dont look at it like he is taking from us, I look at him as raising the bar.
He saved me once when I highsided badly and stopped traffic for me, so hes a stand up guy in my book. It is pretty funny when you see him get infront of the expert leaders, in combined races |

i think sandbagging is lame.. its taking money away from the real amatures.. he may be raising the bar for some, but he is still taking money away from the guys who deserve it.. cherry picking is weak at best.

AM rider. Please, but hey.. he did it by the rules I guess and all 1st year riders deserve AM status to go for AM national titles. Congrats to the kid. He is a gifted rider.

Edwards did the same thing in 1991 (IIRC) and nobody was bitching about it.
He lapped up through 6th in my race (I ended up 5th) and was GONE from the drop of the green flag. He showed up with well over $100k worth of bikes to run NOVICE races and won something like 7 or 8 events (all that he entered) and nobody had a cow about it. What's the big deal ?? Where is the 'status and prestige' in thrashing the entire NOVICE field ? It was Daytona.....so what ?

Who Edwards? AMA didn't have the same requirements then, he was able to just get the license. He also had money behind him which always helps.
Colin was a true Novice that year and could have been beaten by a couple of other Novices if he didn't have a huge equipment advantage. Keep in mind I think he was and is a great rider but he wasn't a totally dominant Novice that year. |

He broke his collarbone, pinky, and some ribs which punctured a lung. He was back at the track on Friday and feeling alright, even better on Saturday.
