YZF450 SM - Slipper Clutch Issues

So my buddy has a YZF450 in super moto trim he rides on the street. Has a slipper in it, installed by previous owner. Bike might have 500 miles on it.

Heres the problem he has. Clutch works normally when first started, but he can ride 1.5-2 miles and the clutch slowly doesnt work anymore.

When I say doesnt work: lever comes to bar with all slack and does nothing. Bike cools off, and it works normally again.

Never dealt with a slipper. Does it just need adjustment?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks!

Stack height is typically the #1 culprit, sounds like you could be on the thick side... can't hurt to check and you'll have it apart to do a once over anyhow.

    What brand?
I had similar issues with a STM and it turned out that the basket was grooved
and i needed a new one.

Im going to pull it apart for him this weekend to take a look. Was hoping someone else had run into this issue to. Not sure what brand.. but I think it might be an STM.
