What is the oldest race bike you've ever raced in a non-vintage class? Lets hear about it. In 2003 my first race bike was a 93 Honda CBR 600 F2 that I raced in the middleweight classes. It had F3 carbs, triples and forks. I never won on it but I did put it on the 3rd step in the amateur classes a few times in that other series here in FL.
'72 Honda CB175 (ahh, just saw the second part re. racing in a non-vintage class.) Raced a 96 MZ Skorpion in modern classes 2010-2014
1988 fzr400 in a CCS MW race at NJMP once, just a couple years ago. Did NOT get last place!! When I first started racing with CCS there luckily wasnt any vintage classes, and my main racebike was a fzr400/600 and I would run that in Thunderbike, and I think Lightweight GP regularly.
1986 GSXR7/11 converted to 17" rims. The last year I raced it was 2000 but I still take it out for track days once in a while.
I should clarify - I was still racing that thing in MW through 2002 ish edit - now that I think about it, the 2005 SV is getting a little long in the tooth, but the progression of development/power with newer models in the class in nowhere near what it was with middleweights in the 89’s and 90’s.
