I want to upgrade my front forks on my 2011 GSXR 750 and have an opportunity to buy a set of 2006 GSXR 750 forks with GP Suspension cartridges in them. I'm wondering if 1. am I able to run them and 2. can I use my 2011 calipers and front wheel (or do I need to run the older stuff)? Thank you in advance for your help!
You will need the front axle and front wheel from a K6-K9 as well since the axle is larger diameter on the pre 2011. 2011+ calipers will bolt right up to the K6-K8 forks. Now you can pull out the cartridge kit out of the 07 forks and fit it into the 2011 forks. Thermosman did the reverse for me by installing the 2011+ NIX30 kit into my 07 forks.
Oh really? Didn't know that about the putting the cartridges in my 2011 forks. Okay that may be an option and one that I prefer.
I dont know if anything needs to be done differently, I just know when I sent the suspension in off my 07, Tman told me that Ohlins kits arent available for the 07 anymore, so he installed an 11+ kit in my forks. He also set me up with a 11+ TTX by swapping the lower eyelet for one that fits the K6-K9 bikes
Okay, so you went the opposite way and put 2011 components into 07 tubes. I'll inquire to see if this is possible.
As mentioned, yes '11 + fit in 06-09. I ran a set of '12 600 forks with Ohlins 30's on my 07 750 last/this year. I took them off and put a set of 07 750 forks with Ohlins 25's that i had, on the 07. I still have the '11 forks with the Ohlins 30's....An Ohlins TTX, a JRI MC10, and a Penske triple for the '11 + bikes. At least i think i do.
