I am being sent to Louisville Ky for the Mid American truck at the end of the month. Never been to this event so I am not sure where the best places to stay are. Will want some night life entertainment. Anybody from there that can maybe recommend where the best place to get a hotel will be?

    Thanks

I think most of the major ones are downtown. I know the area along the river at night is pretty cool. I usually stay at a Hampton if I can. They're not too expensive and they seem to be fairly clean. I'm sure someone local will be along soon.

I've always liked staying at The Galt House.

The Galt house is pretty nice. Right on the river. Next door to theKFC Yum center.

The Brown Hotel was pretTy nice too.

Seelbach is a nice old school hotel close to all the night life on 4th street. It has a great bar for sampling bourbons too.

21c hotels are great but if I recall correctly its a decent walk to the nightlife from there. Brown would be my second choice.

4th street is a trendy flashy bar area of downtown. Locals will go to either Frankfort ave (nicer) or bardstown road (working class/younger) areas. I'm not sure of what hotels are in those areas though.

You won't find anything lodging on Bardstown Rd or Frankfort Ave but definitely check out those area's. Best bet is the one's others have mentioned
above but they are quite pricey. PT's on Market St. is the best Gentleman's club. Absolutely tons of restaurants in the area. The ones near the Yum center are all pretty good. Louisville has more restaurants per capita than any city in the U.S. and they are all great. Everybody tries to outdo the next when it comes to food. And just across the bridge on the Indiana side is a riverboat casino if you're into that kind of thing.

As mentioned, if you are wanting a bit of night life, there are several hotels near 4th Street that are in walking distance. Walking through downtown is actually pleasant. More so than many other places. Galt House, Seelbach, Brown, etc.. are all good choices. Just don't get too far out by the airport as then you will have to taxi inn.

If you get the chance, stop in and see Chad at Commonwealth Motorsports. Its a really cool shop and they support several racers. They are downtown also.

There's about 5 or so hotels right next to the Convention Center you will be attending. Google Louisville hotels and then look at the area around
Phillips Ln. These are basically your stereotypical hotels near a convention site. They are all fairly new but I'd be surprised that they aren't also booked,
because that's a big show you're going to. Yes, you're a little ways from the downtown activities but keep in mind, Louisville is an incredibly cheap city to live in
so I'm guessing a taxi ride is about $10.

Not sure if this link will work. It's a decent area...my office is right across the street from the convention

There is an Econolodge and a Sheraton, both downtown. Prices are under $250 according to trivago.com.
