That's the great irony here. Northam ran ads featuring a pickup truck with a rebel flag chasing after blacks accusing Ed Gillespie of being a racist. Honestly, the ad itself was offensive.

I don’t think too many of the people who they’ve tarred and feathered for blackfacing were using the old timey “look like a tar baby” blackface. They’re crying because people are dressing like black people and using makeup.
