After spending the weekend in the hot pits at the AMA Finals this weekend at NJMP, I was wondering what the average race weekend runs? maybe not so much for the AMA guys but for a WERA or Css race weekend? Tires, lodging, registration etc...?

    just curious

    Depending what you ride:
    wera= $1000
    AMA= $2500+
    That is my estimation:up:

Lets say a inline 4 600. Some of those AMA guys were spending at least $1000 on tires alone. lets say hotel.

For me...with my local club on my SV I always expect it averages out to $1k a weekend.

For me with WEAR West it is $1k a weekend or more but that is because I have to travel 1000 miles to get to a round.

I'm slow and ride an older R6 so I can get away with 1 set of tires, newer bikes, faster guys use more than one set.

    WERA entries, transponder rental ~$350
    Tires ~$350
Fuel (for the bike and to get there) ~$100
    Food $40
    Gate Fee $25/person
I stay at the track so I don't pay for hotels. For me, it's just shy of $1,000/weekend and I think I do it pretty cheap.

    For the racing itself..

    $375 - Tires
    $300-ish - Fees (3 classes + solo race - 4 races total)

That'll get me through a weekend on my CBR1000RR, but keep in mind, I'm not 'fast' so I don't tear up tires as much. The really fast guys might use a set of tires per race.

For us anywhere from 25k to 75k.

    Many answered your question.

How many races? How fast are you (for tire wear)? Slicks and DOTs? Race gas or pump? Brake pads? Oil change each weekend? Camp at track or hotel? Food desires?

You're asking for specifics without giving any yourself.

Here's a run down for me going to Fontana a couple of weeks ago:

    Transportation of my bike: $250
    Airfare: $300
    Rental Car: $185
Hotel: $0 (sleep in a cot at the track)
    Registration $150 or $160 (can't remember exactly)
Tires: $0 (because mine last forever...1 front all year and on my second rear for the year)
Beer: Crap I forgot to buy beer!!
    Race Fuel: $55

Total: $940 + a day off from work and half a day from work to drop my stuff off at the transporter (Performance-Source.com)

Racing on bare minimum budget for now. Tires/used race $75 for 3. Gas/local only $60-$80 truck and bike, one race $85, track entry $25, bring own food and drinks, $25. So $270 minimum for the weekend attempt but more likely $350..... It is better than stopping cold turkey.

I think that to be competitive in an I4 Expert class (and race at least 2 classes) $1K is a good ballpark number for 'local' race weekend expenses. Travel expenses to an 'away' race just add $$ on top of that.

Can it be done cheaper? Maybe. But be careful where you cut corners... :)

    YMMV

I'm scared to actually do this because I have never added it up.
    Tires- $825
    Race Fuel- $250
Car Fuel- $105-$140 (No tracks near my house)
    Entries- $300
    Hotel (two nights)- $170
    Food- (Still need to eat)
    $1,650.

I figured it was around $1,800. Probably averages closer to $1,800 if you factor in a lowside here and there.

I'm just a novice guy but I can run a solo and four sprints for about $1k a weekend - tires, entry fees and incidentals included. No fancy fuel for me, though :)
