Near nuttin until shit goes wrong and you have Pahrum and Vegas close enough.

I rode Death Valley on a bike New Years before covid. Spectacular. Coming in from Beaty and thinking you're already low, then coming over the pass and seeing what low really is. Absolutely unforgettable.

 

This is me coming back from Death Valley and entering amargosa valley.
Mountain in right corner is Pahrump on this side and Vegas on other side of it. Mercury is straight in middle in those hills. Yucca in left corner.

I'm returning to LV in early February for a conference. Later that week, I might take a drive to DV and Star Wars Canyon to see if there is any activity out there. I really want to see this in person.

Death Valley is pretty spectacular. I did some pre-Baja training out there one year. It was May, and I knew quickly I didn't want to be there in June, July, August or September. I'd go back and ride it in a heartbeat. There is a lot to explore.
