Bought this for $2500 in 2012 from a Holidy Inn.....'07 E250, 5.4L, 212k miles... Traded paintwork for a Penske shock and leather suit . Sold it for $5000 5 yrs ago.
My buddy built a pimp Mercedes high rise mobile welding van. Said he makes more money out of that than at his shop.
Yes! The Van Life hipsters have , really screwed up to used van prices..no doubt Every Instagram/facebookgearhead.. insists you must have a 4x4 conversion at the cost of AT LEAST $15,000k In their eyes spending 40k in a 20-30 year old van .is acceptable? I bought my 2003 7.3 diesel extended Cargo van w 220k on the ODO, 3 years ago for just under 3k. IMO... THATS WHAT THE DARN VANS ARE WORTH ! Am I offbase? Realistically? I know people have offered me what I consider silly $ for it..I now know I can sell it for 10 k any day if the week.. So should I just count my blessings? Also . In my opinion the Diesels are SO UTTERLY OVERRATED it's ridiculous... DON'T GET ME WRONG ITS IDDLY FUN... But... They cost a dollar more a gallon to drive. The maintenance is a minimum of $1,000 anytime you take it to the shop.. and I do mean minimum! I got 17.5 MPG on mine..totally stock with 30 all terrains driving 65 mph. I'm expecting the same w 33" tires, a tuner and fresh turbo w exhaust. I know a mobile mechanic who works on diesels he personally hates diesels and drives an extended cab E350 with a 5.4 V8 and he is getting 15 miles a gallon loaded with his tools . The Triton V10 I would steer clear of they seem to get 10 miles a gallon uphill or downhill.. Hope you have good luck finding a replacement van! Hopefully your insurance or their insurance will pay for it I can't think of a more practical vehicle than a van they're just awesome in every way
Awesome! El ingenioso hidalgo /caballerodon Quijote de la Mancha. Love it Yep that's us!! No two ways bout it....
Here is a good friends. It's a Old Pacific Bell Dodge service van, was converted to 4x4 by Pac Bell for rural desert servicing. He picked it up a couple years ago, dirt cheap buried 1' into the Salton Sea mud. Only 80k orig miles. All it needed was a $100.00 ignition module . It's been running great ever since. Darn thing is bloody uncomfortable as hell, but you can't stop it . The patina..is perfect.. we're kind of anti-establishment.. For the price of just a Instagramers Aluminess tire rack that cost $4,000 .. equiped.. You can have an entire van! If that's your thing, quite understandably it's not for everybody...
One of the best work motors you can have.....but they fucking drink gasoline. Great work truck motor as long as you're not the guy paying for gas. If you're keeping it 7.3 diesel is always better, resale is amazing on them.
I see what you did there I'm sure I overpaid for my 2000 7.3L back in 2018 but I might be able to get more than I paid now. Mine was a stripped law sprinkler company work van, only summer driven with 112K. After replacing the entire cooling system and a spit fuel line the first year it's been (knock on wood) good. I'm starting to make it not look like a Chester molester van. Anyone have any info on decent rims for the Econoline E350s?
Anyone have their "dream" van imagined? Brand, year, drivetrain...interior, accessories/equipment, etc?
Which dream van? I've got the WERA one, the me solo road tripping one, the me wife and dog road tripping one, the off road one, the pimp driving around town one.... Pretty sure there are more if I think about it a bit.
