A thread for posting war-related quotes.
I thought it might be interesting to hear some great war quotes from our leaders past and present.

    Here's one to start:

When in England at a fairly large conference,
Colin Powell was asked by the Archbishop of Canterbury
if our plans for Iraq were just an example of empire
    building by George Bush.

He answered by saying "Over the years, the United States
has sent many of its fine young men and women into
great peril to fight for freedom beyond our borders.
The only amount of land we have ever asked for in return
is enough to bury those that did not return!"

It became very quiet in the room.

As far as Saddam Hussein being a great military strategist, he is neither a strategist, nor is he schooled in the operational arts, nor is he a tactician, nor is he a general, nor is he a soldier. Other than that, he's a great military man. I want you to know that.

    My favorite.

In a recent interview, General Norman Swartzkof was asked if he thought there was room for forgiveness toward the people who have harboured and abetted the terrorists who perpetrated the 9/11 attacks on America.

    His answer:
" I believe that forgiving them is God's function. Our job is simply to arrange the meeting...." - Norman

    In anguish we uplift
    A new unhalllowed song:
    The race is to the swift;
    The battle to the strong.

    And blood in torrents pour
    In vain--always in vain,
    For war breeds war again.

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature, and has no chance of being free unless made or kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

I looked through some more of those pix and finally figured out why the protests are so popular. Jerry's dead! All the kiddy stoners and has been hippies have no where else to go and party together selling homemade jewelry and incense so they can afford gas to the next protest...

    Mr. Powell

In an interview Colin Powell was asked by a female reporter if he was aware of the results of a recent survey of young Americans that reported only 13% of them knew where Iraq was.

He replied that "the results did not surprise him and that unfortunately for Iraq all of the 13% are marines!"

You have to love that guy! UHHH RAAAA
