He sure as hell does doesn't he and he's doing a good job of it so far even if he isn't trying. If he is intentionally, or even if it's unintended, and he hangs on another month then the Republicans won't have much time to salvage the election with another choice. If that happens then the Second Amendment nuts might be talking to him instead of Hillary as he suggested. This is the damnedest election I've ever seen.
