'18 was a hell of a year so here's my '19 resolution. Anyone who knows me knows I will not show up to this thing unprepared. The BBS is a powerful thing, let's do some good today. https://www.crowdrise.com/o/en/campaign/2019-ironman-703-traverse-city/travisrichards3
In! Both my Mom and my Mother-in-Law are survivors. I have a good friend who has WON ultra marathons, he's transitioning to an ironman career now. I am hoping to complete a half next year.
Done, good luck. I'm signed up for a half marathon in April, but there's no "good cause" behind my decision. At least nothing as honorable as yours. Keep us updated on your progress and results!
Good luck Travis! If I can make a recommendation, go on www.beginnertriathlete.com and hook up with some people to keep your training on track. I used one of these free training plans when I did my half. https://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/training/trainingplans-list.asp
My brother, also named Travis, is planning to make this his first tri as well. He did his first marathon in December after having decided to do so only 7 weeks prior. It was a small marathon in the Tampa area, but he ended up finishing 5 out of around 40 participants and 2nd in his age group. My mom is a cancer survivor and all I can say is, f@!% cancer. You got this man! And if I can manage, I'll be there to cheer you both on.
Best wishes TR. I'll send some $. PM aftriathlete, he's a super nice fellow and a 3A machine. I'd bet he may have some useful info.
Nice man I love it. I'm dusting off the singlet in 2020. Was going to be this year but the guy who talked me back into the game is going to be deployed all year and I want to do it with him. I did a couple 70.3s in 2009 but never got a whole one in. It's fun, except not. Like all the pain without the... fun.
