I am heading "home." Leaving WI and all the travels across the US for an assignment based out of Miami and travels throughout the Caribbean. It has been a pleasure to meet many here over the years as I have been afforded much travels via work and on personal excursions. Looking out the window and taking in one of the last snow storms of the year. To much warmer adventures...
Darn it. Another, last minute trip to Pitt before I start driving South. Hopefully, a quick two day mission to leave current employer and client on best standing and ensure success. None here took me up on the TiLoS job.
Well, first week is complete. Exciting experience. I had forgotten how much of a sea person I am. I cannot explain but I am a different person when I am near the ocean. And, 80 degrees with a breeze beats WI/MN best. Left side driving from left side vehicle can be challenging. It is amazing the checks that I catch myself performing on the road that are no longer productive out here, driving on the left side of the road. I keep checking my right. Lol But I keep reminding myself that I have survived track days, switching between standard and GP configuration. The key to success then as it is now, don't hurry and be in the moment. I can't rely on instincts. There is definitely an island pace if not, an island mentality when it comes to doing things. The people are just that people. All kinds. But mostly, welcoming. The opportunity here is great. But I am not looking at this selfishly. Something great can be built that should provide for a better future fora all. Now, to put some effort at my end to make it happen.
I am Cuban. I make things happen. Build teams, partnerships, lead. Manage risk and opportunity, well; for myself, owner, client, public. Currently, Director - Market Leader: P&L Responsibilities, Caribbean Sector All business units (Aviation, Ports & Harbors, Industrial, Power, Telecommunication, Transmission, etc). I have a degree in Ocean Engineer. And, many studies/experience in other areas. My list of dos, or have done is extensive. I can list.
Yes. And, I started my drive at 2300hrs so that I can beat the snow storm two weeks ago and the showers down South. Perfect timing but a non-stop drive.
I don't drink but someone slipped some alcohol in the virgin pina colada last night. I took a second sip to confirm.
Back in the USA (sing it like the Mick). I have returned to the US with prior pipeline outfit. Across the mountains of VA/WV, for now. Looking to more travels through the US. Can wait to visit the Great Plains again. The Caribbean Market opportunity was terminated as I focused more and more on the team performance in USVI. So, I did the math and I am where I belong. I will miss the warm weather. But, I am tough enough to be here in DC wearing short, on sub 30. LOL Hope to catch some races/visit as travels permit.
