CX is one of those things that I wish I could get into, but I just can't. I just have no interest in running with my bike.
We don't allow tri bikes either. It's a safety issue. In a mantis position, you can't react fast enough to the quick changes in direction or stops that you can encounter in the peloton. It's as simple as that. No snobbery or anything.
Those are the risks when you race in the high mountains. It would have been fun seeing if he would have been able to close the gap enough to keep the Yellow Jersey.
It's more a summer thing than the mountain thing. Major weather change occurring today triggering violent storms. By tomorrow, high temperatures will have dropped close to 40° from yesterday.
a buddy of mine from the CSU days is working with UAE Team Emirates this year and posted some pretty crazy pictures from the car and a handful of hail. first response from one of the other CSU guys (who's friends with Andy) "Hampsten woulda kept going"
Did y'all see the landslide? Not super fast moving but over the road and enough earth to give you a WTF moment.
So why don't they actually "race" today? Thomas could still win it... Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
I hate that final-day parade. It's just as stupid as all those unwritten baseball rules. They need to bring back the time trial on the final stage.
Tradition. I can't really be bothered to care about the Grand Tours. The one-day classics are far more exciting and, more importantly, much more condensed.
Tradition my ass. Lemond / Fignon 1989. Lemond made up a 50 second deficit to beat Fignon on the final stage time trial. The most exciting finally to a TdF everererrrr!
