I think you may have missed the was SUPPOSED to be a modern version of the same movie. The vintage of the Porche relative to present day was all intentional. If you can appreciate it for what it was supposed to be, it was a great film.

    No ..not at all.
It is in noway supposed to be a modern retelling?

    It's absolutely 100% not a "remake"

It was a sequel telling the story of a man 35-40 years later.
Which they applied just fine. rehashing the exact same scenes & plot that I listed ..that's essentially..all they did was produce what felt like a remake :(

I was pretty clear it delivers on Popcorn & bubblegum entertainment..:Pop:

But as far as creativity , for me and a few friends whom viewed's lame as it can get..same Ol same Ol
On that level... Just left a lot to be desired after so much anticipation

We saw it again on Friday and enjoyed it as much as the first time. We'll see where it goes from here.

    Saw it yesterday.

It was really good quality summer popcorn fare. Nothing really more than that and nothing wrong with it. They knew exactly what fans of the first movie wanted and they delivered a metric ton of it into a 2 hour flick.

I'm convinced they digitally de-aged Tom a bit for his close-up scenes (especially his pillow talk with Jenn Connelly), but damn if that dude doesn't bring 110% to every flick he's involved with. Nutty as a fruitcake, but you can't fault his dedication to the craft.

I really appreciated the level of practical effects that went into it, and the sound design was, of course, amazing (the opening shots of the carrier crews doing their magic was worth the price of admission alone). I'd be surprised if the sound design crew doesn't get an Oscar nod.

Love how they handled Iceman's story.

Just thought it was kinda funny, since Tom seems safety minded, requiring masks and all.

You understand the difference between movie make-believe and real life, right? One side of the coin is showing his face, which makes money in the movie world, and the other is fighting to keep production going … agree with the science or not.

I still want to know what Bob's call sign stood for. He started to say, then the scene changed, and it left us hanging.
