Thumb brake. Give me some ideas.

Yea, I saw the GP Tech website but do they even sell them anymore? Any other options out there that aren't crazy expensive?

I've got a GP Tech one. PM me your address and I'll dig it out and send it to ya.

The GP Tech fork mounted unit looks like a modified rear master cylinder with a purpose built bracket and lever.

Joe, what are you trying to achieve? Look up stunter set ups, normal brake set up in left hand side. One shorty lever, one regular. Nothing expensive.

Also Mattias Pasini in Moto2 has brake and clutch on the same side, and it looks like a pretty basic setup.

  6. Told you what I have but don't think it would work as it would be too busy on the left side. My linked one works but I also have a rekluse. One thing to keep in mind is you don't need to link two masters so you only need to be concerned with the thumb master and not having to worry about feeding one master into the other. Make sure it's sized to get the right amount of pressure and volume as for your application it may be a bit more critical even though I know you disagree. My set up is like the one above be with two hand levers on the left. I've broke my thumb in hockey fights so many times there is not a lot of strength in it. BTW those actuators should be at my house when I get back from china.

    Clake!

Lots of options at Clake; either two levers, one lever, the pro, etc. Their Clake 1 is a clutch until you pull harder then it's a brake lever, which wouldn't allow you to moderate the clutch and brake independently, but it's an option. The Clake 2 is probably what would work for you, but it's not a thumb lever, it's two separate (and weirdly shaped) levers.

Well, since my legs still don't fully work I need to have an adapted bike. I never really used the rear brake under racing conditions but I did whenever I went off course. I need the thumb brake set up mainly for safety reasons just in case I need to use it.

Obviously, the cat is out of the bag and I'm getting a bike this summer and adapting it so I can be on two wheels again. Gotta get the crash monkey off my back lol.

Yup. No more chances on a seizure for me. Also, no more bump starting. Yamaha FZ07R. Fuel injection, push button start and stock engine except for ECU tuning and exhaust. LWT SS and bump to SB. Not sure if the bike will be fully adapted this year. Hopefully, it will be.

For what that piece is, it's worth the price of admission. The Brembo equivalent is damn near 4X the ducats and isn't nearly as versatile.

The GP Tech piece is nice. Availability seems to be the issue of late.

  15. @50Joe did you ever come up with a cost effective solution? I just destroyed my right ankle about 6-7 weeks ago and I've lost about 80% of it's range of motion. I'll gain it back over the next 6 months (i hope) but right now riding my MX bike is becoming a chore because I can't flex my right foot down to press the pedal at all.

@Canadian Bacon what does your setup look like on your KTM? I know you've mentioned you made something before. Looking for good options.

    Great news, Joe!

Have you been in touch with Aaron Lanningham out in Utah? I saw him a few years ago at Miller and he had a bike setup for him with outriggers that stabilized his bike while he got on/off of it. Fast rider too...

I did. Chad sent me a thumb brake he had sitting in a box that he no longer needed. I think it may be the one GP Tech sold. Just need to have a custom length brake line made to reach the rear caliper.

I've spoken to Aaron a few times. Almost bought his fully set up GSXR750 but I wanted a LWT bike instead. I pick up a race prepped FZ07R at the Cycle Jam. Doug has offered to adapt the retractable landing gear. I've got the thumb brake. Last thing is a paddle shift system from Proshift out of the UK. Rather pricey but I've got to have it. It's the only system I've found that offers clutchless upshift and downshift with a cable operated throttle.

Here's a cool set up as well. Maybe this would work for you?

  20. Actually that would work great on my MX bike since I have a rekluse in it...HMM. Thanks Joe! Now to see if I can actually get ahold of them.
