Boss had a much less invasive version of the bubble surgery for a detached retina, doc put a this way up arrow on the patch and the forced down time sucked but it worked amazingly well. Great news overall. Will they be able to insert a lens like they do with cataract surgery by any chance?
At this point he is telling us external. That may be because of the damage to the eye from the initial injury. We can worry about that later. My challenge is to survive the next 7 days until her appointment. She does not do still very well.
I think 2 Live Crew did a song that pretty much sums up how your wife needs to heal called "Face down ass up". Ha! In all seriousness - sounds like things are turning for the better from a nasty accident. Good Vibes.....
Actually not too bad. We had a follow up visit a couple weeks ago. They have gotten her injured eye vision to about 120/20 corrected, which is about as good as it will get. There is some irregularity in the shape of the eye due to the injury, so she says it is like looking through water (kinda like when you come out of a swimming pool except she cannot wipe it away. The iris has atrophied so it is fixed fully dilated making bright lights an issue. Now she just has to have patience to let her brain adjust to her new normal. She has good days and not so good days, but her attitude is mostly positive. The loss of vision is bad enough, but the difference in appearance in her eyes is something that bothers her. Thank you for asking.
You're a good guy dealing with tough stuff. More power to her and you. Always with the sense of humor. Kudos man.
