It's a 1953 german (sachs- engined) Rixe (Rick-see)160cc.Fr. a small firm in zuffenhausen. They eventually sold out to India,I think, and made mopeds under the same name. Got it fr. one of my porsche- restoration clients.Absolutely complete, incl. the original engelbert tires.missing only the toolbox lock. A bmw piece should be the same....check out the enclosed chain drive, and tire pump. Its my next resto project....
The only disc valve inline twins I know are the Kawasaki and Rotax ones, this isn't one of those, the intakes are on the wrong side. A wild guess - Villa?
Who did the motor 'redesign' work? I know Exactweld had a number of clever guys working on the bikes...but I thought they were using Rotax 256 motors.
Nope, not that one..... I know who has the most recent one that he sold though. It was at Barber for the 25th Anniversary of the Gamma, in 2010.
Hi Matt, Yes, Mike sold "his" 750 to a gentleman named William. As far as the bike he was warming-up in the video.......do you remember the TV show on ABC called "The Wide World of Sports" and the opening segment? Don
Geeeeeeezzzzz Robin, You put-up some tough ones. I'm guessing a factory, Yamaha 250 from the '60s. To be honest, I have no idea. Don
Hi Robin, Well I was close. Those "Factory" bikes are difficult to recognize. There were so few of them. I always found it interesting that Yamaha was using rotary disc valves on their factory bikes in the '60s, yet TZs didn't even have reed valves until 1985! Don (Looks more like a V-four to me. )
