    Tim the diference is
    - You know your bike will make more power everywhere.
    - you have lots of machines $$$ to test.
    - your bikes are fastest... in a place where there is a lot of $$$ involved.

By the way... solved the tire problem your head induced... A new 190/55/17 Diablo rosso... the Diablo could not stop spinning.

Tim, do you raise the redline in your bikes? If so how do you determine where it is set?

I understand it would be pointless to over-rev if more power isn't being produced, but how do you define the line between power and reliability? You said earlier that the motor gets torn apart every 8 hours of runtime or so, but I'm sure an over-reved engine could blow in a shorter time than that.

O yea and I think I would be classified as a "dream tuner." But, do wet dreams signify a blown engine?

Yes where i can and/or where i need to i will raise the limit.
Its determined from the engine spec and as you said no point revving it higher than needed although overrev can be useful at times.
Testing defines reliability. I have seen 17,600 on the logging before on a cbr600rr and its not blown up, but then my attention to the valvetrain detail and design might be different to others.

Tim told me the best trick... we remove the rev limiter on our bikes, run them till they blow then dial it back 500 rpm and set limiter there. works well

i cant believe this thread is STILL going..haha
