what do these pics have to do with a kawasaki ? carbs, or helping this guy get his bike on the track?

He was mentioning the guy in Canada.... So I figured I'd toss in some pics of bikes people say are unlikely good candidates for racers, that are at shanny this weekend. Besides.... His answer is obvious.... Race The thing with vrra or the uscra, then slot in where ever it fits in other clubs and classes. If carbs are a problem, have a set of each, depending on where you're racing..I have a set of mikunis for p1 350 and kept my CV carbs for down in the states. Big whoop.

It was a tossup for WERA and AHRMA and after reading the rulebooks and poking around WERA seems like a better fit for me." the wera rules seem a little vague on carbs? he should go with what he has on the 750 now.

Yes located in Los Angeles.

I currently have this set of RS-34 carbs that I bought from Topham Germany. They worked much better than the crappy BS38 carbs that came stock, major throttle response improvement partly because they are a better size for the stock displacement. One of the design flaws of this engine is the valves and ports are oversized for the stock displacement, (should be perfect for 906cc engine) The intake port is 38mm so with these carbs there is a 2mm step up after the venturi which is killing flow. I will probably break in the new engine with these RS-34 carbs and the current exhaust. When i move the 906cc to the race bike I will build new pipe and a new rack of carbs. I really like the FCR39 mm pumper carbs. periodically there are good deals for them used on ebay for 4 cyl bikes. I'm guessing I can shorten the 4 rack into a 2 rack. Still saving up for some other stuff so carbs is not happening immediately but I am always looking in case a deal pops up. Any suggestions for carbs? Ii went through the entire Sudco catalog looking for things i might be able to adapt without breaking the bank. They sell a rack of FCR39mm carbs for the Triumph Bonneville, but they are big bucks. It seems like the CR carbs in the US are all 37mm or smaller. I have seen some places in the UK selling 39mm CR carbs.

Maybe find some carbs off a couple 450cc four-stroke dirt bikes. You may have to make your manifolds, etc., but something tells me you're okay with that.

Thoughts on wheels/tires?
I think a 160/60/17 rear tire would be ideal, which means a 4.50-5.00 rear rim. Ideally 4.5" wide so if i ever want to race ARMHA it would be legal. Right now I have been looking at 2004 OEM KTM duke wheels (690 rear/ 990 front), they're cast Marchesini, so I assume they are pretty light for a cast rim and I can probably get a set with rotors/carrier for $600.

Are forged wheels worth the cost? I find deals every now and then but they almost always are for 5.50-6,00" rims. I would really love some cool vintage wheels like Dymag or Astralites, but they have proven hard to find.
