Mmmmmm!, me loves me some Stouts; dark roasty goodness....! :p

Stouts / Porters are at the top of my favorite beer style list, and As Winter is approaching, Stouts are filling the shelves and coolers at the local store; and my fridge....

    SO:

Let's share our favorites, and not-so-favorites with Ye Men of WERA!

I like basic Stouts; not so much the Coffee Stouts and such.....

    Really good:

Left hand Milk Stout on Nitro - Having on right now - AWESOME!

    Oskar Blues - Ten Fiddy

    Sam Adams - Cream Stout

Mt. Carmel Stout - A local Micro, just outstanding stuff

    Disappointing:

Great Lakes Ohio City Stout - I LOVE their Edmund Fitzgerald Porter, it's one of my top 5 beers period - but this one was kind of weak... My Son thought so too. :(

    So share your thoughts!!! :)

I love a pint of Guinness when it gets cold. Oskar Blues is really good as well. I home brew and have an Irish stout in the fermenter.

I am a big fan of Left Hand Milk Stout too.
Butternut's Moo Thunder is good stuff as well.

I am going to risk going off topic here as many who like stouts probably like Porters as well. Here are a couple of my favorites.
    Yard's Tavern Porter
    Breckenridge Vanilla Porter

Now we're talking! IMHO the season for style if beer is too short and never gets enough shelf space at my local store. Screw that pine tree tasting over hopped garbage.

Big shanty is always a top of mine.
    Smith's Chocolate stout
    Terrapin liquid bliss
Terrapin Moohoo (and just about any spin off...moohoochiato, tiramisuhoo, white chocolate moo hoo)
    finch's secret stash stout
    southern tier 2x stout
    souther tier creme brulee

I like left hand mil stout, but I got over the nitro thing awhile back. I've never cared for guiness either.

Had a draft milk stout from some microbrewery the other night. The first half of the glass was delicious, but I couldn't finish it. Too rich, too sweet, too... milky.

I don't know how available it is outside Wisconsin, but a popular craft brewery here makes the best stout I've ever had. Hinterland Luna Coffee Stout. It's amazing.

Stouts are at the top for me also... Just a short listing of some of my favorites:

As a style I am very fond of Barrel Aged stouts... Lots of flavor when done right.

    Bells Expedition Stout
    Bells Kalamazoo Stout

Goose Island- BSBS ( All styles for this one so far... Coffee Stout etc..)

Founders Breakfast Stout- (Liquid Gold this time of year... :D )
    Founders Imperial Stout
Tallgrass Brewing- Buffalo Sweat ( Low Grav Stout)

There are more...but this is a good start.

North coast brewing Old Rasputin, amazing. Even better on nitro.

Ballast Point sea monster, and for porter, victory at sea.

Two left coast brewers that have made excellent stouts (and a porter)

Not sure of national distribution, but you certainly can get it: Alesmith Speedway Stout. Peter Zien does great work on that barrel aged RIS.

An oft forgotten very rich robust porter from the first craft brewery: Anchor Porter.

Like most everything SN does, it's solid: Narwahl Stout.

My personal favorite: Kiss me Natasha on Nitro (from my own cellar). I have some of the 2014 and its time to brew a new batch. Building yeast as we speak.

MMMMM, I'm going to have to see what stouts the growler place on my way home has. Perfect for the holiday party this weekend. Anybody tried the Boulder Beer Shake Chocolate Porter?

Bell's Black Note is by far my favorite beer, but it's only release every couple of years. Their 30th Anniversary Stout was very good and Neptune from their Planet Series had a ton of character.

Bells just started selling here in TN last month. Not everything here yet...but loving that I don't have to travel to get what I can.
