Pfff. All the country needs is more LEGALIZED irresponsibility and lying. Go ahead, and tell 'em it's not their fault dad.
Lenders will also take a more vested interest in what Major a potential borrower is looking to achieve. What Major is declared will also provide them the ability to project a client's income potential and thus their ability to pay the loan(s) back. Drama, Art, General Studies, Dance and Drama majors may find it harder to get into Harvard to rack up $250K in student loan debt so they can be employed for $15/hour at Starbucks while they wait to get "discovered" by the local dinner theater to embark on a fun and rewarding career playing make believe. One of my coworker's married a woman with $250K in student loan debt. (YES I KNOW...I would have run the other way in World Record time, too). She's a speech therapist, and works for a public school system. She's probably bringing in enough just to make her loan payments. Based on our conversations, she obviously had absolutely zero forethought on the ramifications of what she was doing while in school. She just kept signing putting off graduation and signing more loans to keep herself in school using borrowed money to pay for rent and everthang. He wasn't so thrilled when I pointed out that once he married her....her debt became his debt. Oops.
Will try and keep this simple. Seems some are not aware of the scam being perpetrated on students and taxpayers. At one time the banks were forced to give loans on homes that didn't have the value being asked for OR to people that would NOT be able to pay the loans back. Had a bust because of this. Now we have colleges that give loans to students that once the degree IF given will have a job that after taxes and BASIC living expenses could NOT pay back said loan. Like OH a teacher. Colleges should be forced to show placement numbers and expected PAY after graduation. When you have graduating classes that can expect a 2% placement who do you think will be paying if the loans are backed by US the taxpayers. The colleges are immune to trash degrees. Told my kids, get a job you love. Having one you hate will NEVER pay enough. BUT if that job requires a degree, you better pick one that will pay enough to live and if you have a loan be able to pay it back. I will NOT be paying for your decisions. Welcome to the world of being an adult. So, IMO the colleges are at fault, the loan system is at fault and the student. This jerk is at fault.
Did you point that out before or after he said " I do " ? Because if it was before and he still did it...
Yep. And as the family continues to disintegrate, it just gets worse as kids are taught or shown nothing of value.
Instituting socialism requires destroying family allegiances. Your allegiance must be to the State only.
What amazes me is the number of people who claim to be "conservative" that are perfectly ok with this free shit for stupid people crap...
Oh I hate it but I'll be damned if corps are going to get to enjoy it while regular people are not. IIRC, your company certainly took advantage of it when asbestos nearly killed them in 2003.
Asbestosis and lung cancer. Years ago while working for the Navy building subs he used to cut sheets of asbestos with a circular saw and no breathing protection.
I figured. I never even knew of the issue until actor Paul Gleason died of meso from asbestos. He did construction work with his Dad as a teen and it caught him in his fifties.
So dude goes to undergrad....takes out some loans....goes into navy as officer....makes payments. Gets out for whatever reason...goes to PRIVATE LAW SCHOOL for what 3 years, where the current TUTION ONLY is ~60K a year. Racks up mid six figure debt. And then this effing cupcake of a squid decides he doesnt want to work in a law firm. WTF dude, maybe you should have thought of that, you know, before racking up a house payment in Law School debt. Some 18yo kid who signs up for 20-30K in debt at least doesnt really comprehend how long and how much borrowing 50-100K for school will take to pay off. This schmuck was a Naval Officer, college grad and should have known better. Oh you want your debt discharged, sure, go be a lawyer for poor people for the next 10 years and we'll writet it off. This is the type of dude who gives this forgiving student debt a bad name. He didnt do a worthless degree and then get a low paying job as asst mgr at the gap. He has a law degree and should be making well into 6 figures, especially in NY or New England area. Fucking snowflakes.
Same thing I took from the article as well. Of all the dudes to bail on their financial responsibility....this guy had the best chance of paying his debt back. Everyones rates just went up next year because of this fuckstick. Unreal
The douchebag’s degree that got him into the Naval Officer Academy was probably partially paid for/reimbursed by the government. That’d leave the loan debt mostly to recklessness in law school.
