how do you remove the bottom out cone in in the fork tube when you install catridges into the SV fork?

Is it just pressed in? I don't see any mention of it in my manual

There's a rolled-over lip that you have to grind or machine off, then you can punch out the offending piece. Keep it intact in case you want to revert the forks back to damper rod someday, it can be TIG welded back in place. (if you sell the bike, etc)

Are you talking about the aluminum cone in the bottom of the fork? I never had to grind anything to get that out.

Me neither. It just came out with the damper rod.

On the gen2 forks you didn't have to do anything?
It does appear my original tubes that had these cartridges, had been filed down or something like someone else had said

No. He's talking about the retainer that catches the top out spring. You have to remove it in order to fit carts in the SV forks. It's pressed in and peened over.

The reduction bushing in the bottom of the stanchion? Yes, that needs to come out. I used a bench grinder.
