Anybody see Musquin's pass that put Tomac on his ear? Why isn't there a point where officials call something like that out? It was pretty bad. I could understand if it was the last race of the series and a winner takes all situation. Tomac kind of implied that his gloves are off so it should be fun at least.
Absolutely nothing wrong with that pass. It was hard but looked much worse than it was. Musquin isn’t a dirty rider at all, and I don’t believe it was a takeout move. He just didn’t expect Eli to turn down the way he did. I’d be pissed too if I was Tomac, but it was a racing incident. It was the last lap of the main, for the win. Shit happens.
That was a bitch move by Musquin but there is always next week. Passes like that happen every race so not much is done about it.
How about those 2 guys in the first 250 Heat fighting for the transfer... Looked like Marquez in the dirt...
Your right, they don't always go down. The lap before it happened Tomac passed Musquin before that big triple and never got close to knocking him down.
Jeff Emig stated it perfectly: "Every rider out there has been on the delivering and receiving end of that situation". How one views this most recent move is entirely dependent upon who you root for and whether it was done TO them or done BY them. Right now, the Tomac followers are enraged, yet they would be singing the exact opposite tune if Tomac had made the exact same move on someone else. That move is either acceptable every time it's done, regardless of the players involved, or it is egregious every singe time it's done, regardless of the players involved. Nothing more amusing than selective "OUTRAGE!".
I personally don't root for any one of them in particular. My observation is totally unbiased. There should be something in place that causes any one of them to think a little before they straight-up torpedo the competition. I don't care or pay any attention to who is or isn't outraged based on who they root for.
Just watched it.... If I was Tomac I would have knocked him and his bike over when the Grip got caught up in the chain... He had a chance but didn't...
It was a hard pass but I did not think it was horrible. It looked like Tomac changed his line mid corner and did not leave Musquin many choices. It definitely did not look like a deliberate takout to me. I have been taken out harder by buddies just screwing around on a MX track. I like Tomac but he sounded like a little bitch in the interview though and was hinting that any move he did on Musquin in the future would be deliberate. To me that is way more uncool than the racing incident. But emotions are high and kids sometimes say stupid shit. This kinda reminds me of when I think it was Ezra Lusk took out McGrath under similar circumstances. All of the announcers except David Bailey were going on about how "dirty" the move was and Bailey didn't say much for a couple minutes. Once the others were done talking he said something along the lines of "I don't know guys. When I was racing if I had left that much room on the inside I would have expected someone to use me as a berm in the last corner."
I like both riders. I thought it was fine. It's nice to see Marvin put a bit more pressure on other riders. He's been on the receiving end quite a few times this season with no repercussions. Tomac left the inside open, Marvin jumped into the corner carrying a lot of speed and Tomac turned down into him. I like both of them (over Anderson at least) and wish they would be doing that kind of move on Anderson to make the points chase a little more exciting, but in spite of the bad result (tomac falling down) I didn't feel the it was that aggressive. Look at the heat races and see what happened, compared to the last lap of the main event for the win?? don't leave the door open, and if you do, don't cut down and expect there to be no one there.
