4 states went into shutdown mode in the last couple days due to not passing a budget CT, ME, IL and NJ
Unfortunately, Illinois did not shut down. We've been operating without a budget for over 2 years, spending more than we take in due to following the last passed budget, which had revenue from a now-expired temporary tax hike. We'd be better off with a shutdown, as that would force the knuckleheads in Springfield to actually deal with the problem. Instead, we are a Zombie State. Dead, but undead. Still racking up more debt, and $14Billion in unpaid bills. We are Focked.
Fixed. We will be joining the exodus ASAP. It may take a few months to get our exit strategy figured out but we are gone. Fed up.
Neither political party has shown any recent interest in fiscal responsibility (since at least 1980). Both are complicit, both are to blame.
Talked briefly with mi madre yesterday. I remember the '91 shutdown, Maine's liquor stores were almost entirely state run back then and they were padlocked 7/1. New Hampster made a lot of money...
Ya'll feel free to move south where we don't shut down for anything, well, except the 1 time it snows every 5 years.
What the f@ck is wrong with you? We are full. Northerners stay where you are unless you have a medical condition that requires no further exposure to snow and ice for extended periods.
You should see what some of the Canadian provinces are accumulating in debt. 14b is pocket change compared to what these idiots are doing
