Since the 2000 GSXR's aren't due until april, how will tech rule if someone comes through with stock plastic. Will we be able to run until plastic comes available???

It'll be right easy to glass up a couple o' dams, and I suspect that race plastic'll be out about when the bike arrives.

I don't think that tech oughta make an exception to the oil pan rule. Sure give people a break on the 5 qt part, when necessary, but there ain't a reason why everyone can't have an oil retaining lower whether they've got a brand new bike or their racing a Brough Superior (sp?).

Sharkskinz is already making the bodywork for thr 2000 GSXR 750. Call now and you will have it before you have the bike.

My question was posted because a teammater purchased an new 750. However, I was unsure if tech would allow hime to race the street plastic for the first race or two until the plastic became available. Mr HMFIC what is the official ruling. At the last point of contact through Sharkskinz, they hadn't recieved a demo yet.

Does anyone know why the AMA isn't running the 2000 750's???

We will work with all racers to get them on the race track. Since the 2000's will be out in the first portion of the season they will be cut a break. For late in the season or for 2001 the same problem will have to be cure via creative use of the stock body work and duct tape (it really does work as a temp fix if done right).

As for the AMA teams - my guess is developement time, or actually the lack thereof...

Chuck - have you gotten ahold of a 2000 yet?

Why the exception? They can leak oil or blow an engine as easy as my GSXR. When I asked about this rule over a month ago, I got a bunch of safety crap. If I can use my OEM lowers as a mold for some creative fiberglassing so can everyone else.

Sorry if I seem irritated, but I really will be if I see an exception on the track. I agree with alienator. No exceptions. I went the $20 bellypan route as opposed to $1000 bodywork route. Sorry WERA_16, nothing personal, I think you should have to do the work like I did. I just disagree with the belly pan rule to begin with. To see an exception after I complained and got rejected would be a slap in the face.

If you want I could tell you how to do it. My pan is undetectable under OEM bodywork or can be run by itself. All you need is a 38"x30" fiberglass cloth, a quart of resin, wax paper, scotch tape and a $.50 brush.

I agree 100% Sean has stated many, many times that he is willing to work with everyone to make sure they get compliant with the rule. I believe the change will help promote a cleaner, safer track and cause less down time for cleanup. Personally I think it's a good thing. And not just because the bike I bought already had one! What are you agreeing with? Are you agreeing with nov292 requesting a strict enforcement or are you saying that the rule being in the 1999 rulebook 12 months ago still didn't give racers enough time to make a legal pan? [IMG]

Indiana. How about you? You didn't like the fact that nov292 disagrees with the rule, but do you agree it should be strictly enforced?

I was agreeing with Indiana Racer dude, that the rule is a good idea. As for the enforcement of the rule, it was announced last year and Sean is kind enough to give everyone a fair chance to comply this year, so overall it sounds like a good deal.

Fortunately I was aware of the rule and made sure I bought a WERA legal bike that already had the bellypan. [IMG]

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with anyone. I mereley asked the questionout of speculation for a friend. In my opinion I would rather he not race until he either:

    1) Get's the race glass

    or
    2) Encloses the stock plastic.

I agree that any bike, repeat ANYBIKE has the capacity to blow a motor whether it's ridden by a frito eating beer swilling vintage guy, or buy some squirrely throttle jockey on a Gixxer. I have no problem with the rule because I've got a pan, 2 of em' actually that I am loaning out so a friend can race seeing as how I have snow here and he is a southern boy.

But I also believe that everyone deserves to race at least once. Any time thereafter, they are fair game to the wrath of the tech boys... [IMG]

I think sean said " that only with certain belly pans you have to have a diaper, but not all have to have the diaper
