Actually I have been there :Poke: However I was asking as you only hear the bad in the news. I do know that kidnapping is exponentially higher there (and more survivable).

Oh and while you are pointing out the good of Mexico I would like to inject reality on 'mass shooting' as it is the media much more than reality. Yes is sucks when someone gets shot but you are more likely to die driving to work than to be a victim of a shooting of any sort.

Give me a break...mass shootings in the US? As compared to where? Our MSM loves to take the issue to the top of the charts but is completely silent on the killings in 3rd world countries. How many 10's of thousands (100's?) have been slaughtered in Mexico? We have 4 or 5 looney tunes in the last 4 years and we're the crime capital of the world?

I agree with you in places with civil war and genocide. I've spent time in Cambodia and Vietnam where you don't step dare off the path,. My London girl grew up in the Congo. I know what you are saying and have seen it

Last time I cared to look, roughly 45% of all traffic fatalities were speed related. Not enforcing that would basically create anarchy on the roads. It's already bad enough, just ask Dern :D

As for drugs, that's not an easy solution either. IMO pot should have been made legal a long time ago.

No idea but something is not right when I drive 2o miles from the airport and see 5 cars pulled over, Just can't wrap my head how that is normal, But it could be me.

There are places where common sense gets you where you need to go and police deal with real crimes. Not stupid shit like putting people in jail for a dime sack. But there are shady places, been to Brazil and Venezuela, and Trinidad, a couple of places I watch my back in the day time still like the wild west

I have a theory about this. The 3rd world cops aren’t less aggressive because they’re some sort of cool, laid back cops, they’re less aggressive because they don’t have the backup and support like modern US cops do. Think about it, 50 years ago most US police were much more relaxed too because in lots of cases, there was just one or two of them on patrol at a given time, there wasn’t any high tech equipment, and so on.

I was in Venezuela back in 2008 for my son's wedding. Even back then we had armed drivers to escort us around. One day the group of us walked 2 blocks from the hotel (armed guards at all the doors) up to the old classic hotel on the hill for a beer. When the future DiL's father heard what we did he was concerned and told us not to do that again. I can only imagine what it's like now.

I agree, its a weird mentality that if you are not arresting people and giving tickets you are a bad police officer. I remember years ago they tried to film a Caribbean of cops. Epic fail. the cops were on the beach hitting on girls in bikinis, they interviewed a cop on St, Vincent. How long have you been a police officer, "7 years* how many people have you arrested?? zero, not saying whats right or wrong but I'll choose to live on and island where a police officer as worked for 7 years and has not put 1 person in jail

JC dude, you couldn't be more out of touch on the reality of the police profession in America......Start from page one in the FTP thread a count up how many people bitch n moan about cops parked in a lot...."not doing nothing". If a cop utilizes his time fishing for criminal behavior within a community and makes mv stops purely for PC, he's a jackbooted thug generating funds for his master's..... I like to liken LEO's to Donald Trump's Presidency, like him, they just can't win some people over. Enough with your bellyaching already, great you LOVE crooked police wo don't look for real crimes, just shaking down Americans....good for you......when someone you care about disappears at these awesome places, you'll probably be singing a different story....until then, enjoy! (Freakin single guys, I'll tell ya!!!)

    Cops are REALLY cool tho!

Funny when I was there had a burner wallet with a little cash because I planed on getting robbed, LOL Had cash in my pocket, figure getting robbed it happens fast, just hand them the burner wallet with 10 dollars and expired credit cards, Venezuela is no joke, drive by the Caracas morgue and there is a long line everyday

I respect police officers and all civil servants but as a 1st world country, if you think its normal or good that the US has 27.4% of the worlds prison population, the US is less than 5% of the worlds population and has 22-25 percent of the world people incarcerated. It's not a good thing. Those are facts

Did you ever stop to think that maybe we just might have 25% of the worlds assholes?:D

I would agree we have WAY too many people in jail. I see two big issues. 1.) We should have zero people in jail for doing drugs or even petty selling. 2.) Our justice system is based on revenge vs recuperation and trying to fix what's wrong. I don't have an issue with the cops doing their jobs. It's the politicians and people behind that massive machine that's the problem.

Ok for starters, how about comparing the US territory with equal sized territories, same goes for the population. This comparing the entire US to one freaking country gets old.

Second, ever think MAYBE the reason why we're a "1st world country" is because we're incarcerating bad people for doing bad things and that these other countries you're going on about do not thus why many are 3rd world?

You can go on and on how awesome 95% of Mexico is, reality is it's a shithole with rampant violent crime that can spark off anywhere. People used ot say all the time how safe and awesome Cancun is.....well, less than a few months ago a few Americans/tourists were gunned down just a few blocks away at a bar or club. Let's NOT talk about those "mass shootings" tho.
