Bought an 08 GSXR 750 with a SS build running pump gas. It has 5 race weekends with it and a couple track days. Bike still feels strong. Mid to back pack skills. 1.When is it time for a rebuild? Is it track hours, perceived underperformance? 2.What is involved in an engine refresh? 3.What is a fair price for the engine refresh from a reputable shop? Thanks -Chris
When your mild engine is walked away from by a similar bike with similar gearing every lap, and the other bike is piloted by a rider with similar or lesser skills to yours. Otherwise, you can overcome the deficit with skills such as outbraking, cornerspeed, and early application of the throttle. (does it have enough power to need to brake at the end of the straights? Are you chasing podiums with it? Is it sounding like it's sick?)
Compression check for your engine is like getting your blood pressure checked when you go to the doctor.
For question 1: When you loan a buddy another of the same model bike that puffs blue smoke and is 11 years older and the bike you are on can barely keep up. Dyno will confirm if it's weak or not.
