The Akoustic Band "Alive" album with Weckl on the drums is one of my favorite jazz albums ever.

Saw Return to Forever (they opened for Weather Report) at the Winterland Ballroom the year before it closed, which was also my senior year in high school -- 1977. That was a good year; that show and Pink Floyd's Animals tour were two large event shows that are very near the top of my live music memories. Ride the Wind, Chick.

Romantic Warrior was one of my favorites in high school, and I still dig it, among so many other of his recordings. Rest In Peace, Chick - and thank you.

He played at my college in 1995 I think, with his quartet. It was an 800 seat auditorium. I was working as stage manager and got to watch him play from my spot at stage right. Watching him do prepared piano on a brand new grand piano as cool. It was an amazing performance, and he was one of the coolest and nicest acts to come through our house.

Seen in the comments section of one of his videos on Youtube : "They named two whole countries after him and one after one of his compositions."

    and :

"I think these guys have played before."
